As for whether or not the accuracy of the Woodpeckers gauge is overkill for woodworking, I think not. Any error in your measuring instruments is only one contributor to the total accumulated error in the final workpiece. So unless you enjoy futzing around fine-tuning fits after the initial cut, your instruments should be at least twice as accurate as your goal for the workpiece. Or better yet, 10 times as accurate. Which is where I think this gauge fits in. It basically eliminates measuring-instrument accuracy from the angle-tolerance equation.

Such tools do fit well in my philosophy of "Never measure if you can superimpose"...

Matt, the beaches are still pristine white. I have talked with residents of Mississippi and Louisiana about their beaches, but they tell me that the beaches in those areas are not as clean and white as our beaches, due to the oil drilling in the Gulf. I don't know as I have never been there. I can tell you from Ft. Morgan, AL (east side of Mobile Bay) to Apalachicola, FL (south of Tallahassee) the beaches are absolutely beautiful. They are so white that when folks arrive at night, they sometimes think it is snow on the beach. The sand is very soft, so you can't drive on it very well. So far, we have been able to stop any proposals of oil drilling to our south and east as the current runs westward. The remainder of the Gulf Coast of Florida south through St. Petersburg, Tampa down to the Keys I have never seen. So, I cannot speak to their condition. We have many tourists from Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi because our beaches are so much prettier than theirs. Keeps our tourism trade up. LOL

Anyone get theirs yet? Yes they did say May and despite the June bugs it is May and heading towards the end of it. I just checked my charge card has not been charged yet so I doubt it's in the mail.

I just got an email that it is being offered again. Order deadline June 2 shippping Nov 2017.

I used to watch the "Router Workshop" guys (not being rerun here now) and kind of enjoyed the notion that most precision router adjustments were made by eyeballing, running a test cut on a scrap, adjusting the fence by tapping with a small hammer and eyeballing again...

BTW, it seems that the original link no longer directs to the tool being discussed.

Personally I don't think that the tool is really about being "able" to be accurate but rather the speed and ease at which that accuracy can be obtained. That is where the gain come from...

Now I need to go downstairs and move something... Anything... out of the way and to a proper home.

Yes, they are being done again. I also got an email from Woodpeckers. I also got one form Highland Woodworking and Woodcraft with the same offer.

As Ed said unless you order from Woodpeckers direct your card will be charged immediately. Woodpeckers does not charge the card until the product is shipped. The price is the same from all three places.

Just went back to look again, yes it been all of 15 minutes since I just was there getting the link I posted and the new offer is still not showing up.

Hmm, I think we may have a case of apples and oranges here. There is a new (or repeat?) one time tool shipping in November, the Marking Gauges; I got emails from Woodpeckers and Woodcraft a couple few days ago. At least the latter part of this thread was about the Polygauge SS that I also see nothing about re-opening it for sale.
