The move is not imminent because the house has not sold yet (just went on the market) but the down sizing effort is well on the way. I have moved most of it into a POD, keeping out only a select group of tools. I kept out those items that I thought I could get by on if the house does not sell in short order.

I always thought I had a really small shop but it turns out that I just have a "lot of stuff". Here is what it looks like today.

Everything on the bench tops is to be packed for the POD today or tomorrow. What is left is what I will have to work with until...

Smaller house with a bigger shop? Or smaller house and build a bigger shop?
What part of town are you looking at?

We are looking over towards Rita Ranch (not in Rita Ranch but nearby).

Smaller house and minimal property is the objective. My wife's ideal would be in the range of 1500 sq ft with zeroscape. Unfortunately this will most likely come with smaller space for a shop unless I get lucky.

Now she could find a place that she just has to have and I would have to build a shop. We have discussed that and it is possible. Only time will tell.

Closer to where all of the kids are, closer to Davis-Monthan and less maintenance (with yields more shop time) are the objectives.

Sell this house with enough capital gain to pay cash for the new place would be OK.

Yes you can. It takes a little planning but it’s more than enough space. The concept is keeping everything coplanar. Pick a thickness (I use 3/4” material) and set your shop up so that the work bench and every thing else is at they level. That way you can slide pieces of wood around the shop and never lift them. When you need to change the SS to accomadate wood that is thicker allow room to open the garage door and use a runoff table or roller stand. My work bench is also a support for pieces that I am ripping on the TS.

I must not say this too loudly but the current plan to downsize and relocate may not be a downer. The house that we are now looking at actually has a garage floor space that is a tad bit bigger than what I now have. It's only inches but the usable wall space is large. It will need all new lighting, a paint job, possibly a rust-o-leum floor coating and additional outlets around the perimeter (only one wall outlet exists).

Possible good news is that the main circuit breaker box is located on the outside of one wall of the garage. Easy access to the distribution panel.

The property is about to enter foreclosure. If it does, we have already posted an offer with our real estate agent.

We are nearly ready to evacuate. The realtors have begun calling for appointments to show.

This post is also a test to see if I have learned how to post an image in Windows 10. The Photo app is quite different.
