I also have the issue of my standard upper saw guard where the riving knife was bent when I got it, and have not been able to get it back as straight as I would like to ... I got it straightened enough to not bind when I use it, but the lexan shield leans a bit too much to the right for me.

I wonder if an upgrade to the system using material that wont flex and then bend as easily would be something the MS would consider. I see brass being used in a lot of modern cabinet saw riving knives.

I may go dig up the threads on the shark guard and see if folks here found it to be a worthwhile improvement over the OEM guard.

Just do a search for "shark guard" and read what the folks here have said.

For the most part, opinions are favorable. The dust collection feature would in my mind be the most significant improvement over what we have.

I can vouch for the Shark Guard. I have one for the SS and one for the Powermatic cabinet saw. Upper guard dust collection makes a big difference. Yes they are a little pricey but the quality material and workmanship is superb.

They are basically made to order so there is a lead time but I don't believe you have to pay until it is ready to ship. The details are on the web site.
