Basic setup of Jointech on the shopsmith 520

I'm the one who experienced the problem mentioned by reible in post #28.
I have the redesigned clamps for the Jointech system and am very happy with them. I agree with Ed about the price for retrofitting a system but that price is for a "complete" clamp (including ALL the metal parts). Those metal parts are not inexpensive (nor are the UHMW plastic parts) and I can't see iTools company giving them away.
When I thought about it I realized iTools is only doing what any smart business does on selling upgrades. Shopsmith won't replace your guill with a two bearing quill for free. That improvement was made after someone bought the machine with the single bearing quill. So if you want to upgrade you have to pay what they ask for the retrofit. Same thing applies in the case of Jointech.
Ernest told me he would be shipping ALL new orders with the newly designed clamps.
When I looked Ernest in the eye and told him about the redesign of the 520 rail with the magnetic strip he was genuinely surprised. He was not aware of the change. And within a month he had a fix designed and available for sale. In my opinion that's first class customer support. The price may be more than some want to pay but that's an individual choice. Ernest has done everything he can to provide a reasonable solution to the problem.
