[quote="jpg40504"]I had not noticed the 1984 split. Quite interesting! I think we should give SS credit for making it possible to retain functioning 'oldies' by supporting with replacement parts(as well as minimal design changes over the years which makes that support possible). . . . If it Ain't broke, Don't fix it!:D
The tables/fence system NEEDED fixing(2x)!]
By all means. Significant design changes would have impacted the interchangeability. But he stability of the design over time is really a credit to the original design; was that Shopsmith, Inc. or was it someone else?

If I'm wrong or for other reasons the list needs to be altered, say so. I'll post in a day or two.
Dusty, do you know something that the rest of us do knot???

I believe it was MAGNA ENGINEERING! The subsequent manufacturers were Yuba tool, Magna American and finally Shopsmith Inc.

No, I really do not. I hear the same scuttle butt that you do. I just think that it is about time for Shopsmith to reemerge. They seem to be on about a thirty year cycle.

You ask - Where is the Mark 5. Isn't it the first item on the list (Mark V)? I have always thought the Mark V was all inclusive of 500,505,510, 520, 530.
. . .
Apparently Tim was too subtle. His question remains un-answered DUSTY!

530???
If you will reread the many posts that have occurred in the past about needed/wanted improvements to the current design you will find that there have been other references to a new model 530.
In reality, there is no such animal
at least not yet; it is the figment of many consolidated imaginations.
If Shopsmith was to release a major design change, what would they call it?
500 - 505 - 510 - 520 - ???
What madel Mark V do you have.

One hundred and fifteen voters have 146 Mark Vs.
We know several have table saws built by others.
