I live in a border community.

If law enforcement (city, county and federal) had the borders under control I would say they should be working on traffic control. Until then - NO. They have their hands full with the real bad guys. In the mean time, get real tough on traffic violations (accidents) when they do occur. DUIs may need to be an exception; this violator needs to be actively pursued all the time.

Next year Lexington, KY is hosting the WORLD EQUESTRIAN GAMES as the first location OUTSIDE of Europe. In addition to the right side left side of the road to drive on they will also have to learn that if they drive at or below the 'speed limit' they will get run over and if during rush hours they may also get cursed at!

Our city 'council' in its unfanthomable(sp) wisdom PUBLICY debated setting a speed limit on a 'new' road. They said "if we set it at 45, everyone will drive 55, therefore we need to set it at 35 to limit speed to 45". Since then just about everyone has been driving up to 10 mph over the 'limits'(some go 20 mph faster)[others...].

Next year 2010 WILL be interesting!

AZ has a big border problem AND a nasty DUI problem.

The total absence of any workshop related magazine in every #$%& medical waiting room in the country...
What is there is all sports (don't waste my time), woman's magazines and three year old news magazines that were over a month out of date when they were sent out...

Shop related magazines are good "forever".

Agreed! You'd think with what we pay for health care they could provide some decent reading while we wait. I'm tired of People magazines, old SI's and car mags.

Take your old magazines to the Doctor’s office the next time you visit.

I usually take my old Guns and Ammo magazines in the hope others will gain firearm knowledge from someplace other than the Clinton News Network (CNN) or the Clinton Broadcasting System (CBS).

He tried that! They looked down their noses at him and told him to never do that again! In the between time, they had thrown them out!

Either way it is a catch 22. Use resources to enforce traffic laws, upset one segment. Transfer resources to combat other criminal activity, upset another segment of the population.

BTW, the city where I live has foot, bike, and car patrols. Sorry no horses or motorcycles.

In Tampa the police drive their cars home at night. I live about 10 miles north of the city. I see Tampa police cars speeding north.
I don't think they are responding to anything other than they are going home. The problem is our youth are watching this and the lesson they learn is if you have the power you do what you want.

Their society promises them power in gangs, and/or money, and crimeis the easiest way to get the money. Bad lessons

Ed, I agree. They should set an example in hopes others will follow. As it stands we all set an example. Some demonstrate how to act and some how NOT to act.
