Shopsmith Table Saw Quality?

Congrats on the purchase; I purchased a hardly used 510 back in March and since then I have picked up a bandsaw, jointer and jig saw. I guess it has become an addiction. As many others have mentioned, make sure that you clean and wax the unit. I find it great to be able to pull the unit around, open the garage door and go to work on projects, what other 20+ year tool can you do this with. By the way, I live in Smithsburg, MD.

I'm the proud owner of a Shopsmith, Sawsmith 2000. In my humble opinion, this is the finest cabinet saw out there! I love the fence, best there is. Too bad there was'nt enough demand to keep it in production.

I have two 520's at my "Workshop in the Woods". Actually, one of the 520's has just been upgraded to a double tilt Mark 7. I'm leaving the other 520 with it's convential headstock and this machine will be used mostly for sawing. As a saw the Shopsmith can be aligned so that it is extremely precise. I use the Incra 5000 miter sled and this accessory can cut dead on at 90 degrees ( or any other angle you need ) and cross cut boards to precisely the desired length.
