How many things designed for the Mark V are compatible with the 10ER?

eBay has items listed for the Mark V and I heard somewhere some attachments could be used on the 10ER.

Thoughts?

Pretty much anything that mounts on the spindle or tailstock will work. With the proper adapter hardware, SPT’s (Special Purpose Tools) such as the bandsaw, jointer, etc. can be used as well. Original adapter hardware is hard to find, but you can buy high-quality aftermarket adapters at mkctools.com.

Both the Model 10's and the Mark Series tools have the same size Spindle and Quill Diameter. Many of the Mark accessories can be used on a Model 10E or 10ER. A lot of the Spindle/Quill Accessories still in use today originally came from the Model 10's. Not all Mark accessories can be use on a Model 10 though.

Something I like to suggest to new members is to start your own topic where you can have the information you seek in one location as opposed to being spread out in several places. A great way to refer back to questions and answers you have had.

How tight should the upper saw guard be on the splitter? I have my dad’s old 10ER and the guard is extremely tight, which makes it difficult to move and it stays exactly where you put it. I was under the impression that it should more or less float on the splitter. I’ve cleaned up the splitter with no significant improvement. The slot in the guard doesn’t look bent either, and is clear.

I recommend installing the screw by putting it in the threaded side first. The end of the screw will sit inside the unthreaded side of the Upper Saw Guard. This helps lock the screw in place without binding the Splitter between the two sides of the Guard. The screw is simply a pivot point.

The OEM screw is a standard Round Head Machine Screw 1/4" - 20 x 3/4".

Thank you. That’s good information. I’m actually already putting the screw in that way, as it’s the way my dad had it assembled. I’m fairly sure it’s the original screw as it fits the threads perfectly and is not hard to screw in. But I have no gauge to measure it at home.

The fit is tight even with the screw removed, but only in the part of the slot forward of the screw hole. Perhaps I should file out that part of the slot. The area of the slot behind the screw is plenty loose and is visibly a wider gap.
