My new shop has been shown in a separate discussion to a point where no one would ever desire to see another picture of it. I will say I am enjoying it immensely as are my kids, grandchild and several friends. fjimp

I think not. Here is the original discussion

see #41 and 42 for pictures. I see I never posted the exterior pictures. Given major back surgery for our daughter and our Son's (new to him) 60 year old house, the shop had plenty of use and my tools made many trips back and forth as we did some major work so he could live there. fjimp

well close enough to actually posting pictures. They were easy to find from the link.
So here is a question for you. Do you find the 42 inch hood on the dust collector helpful or should I just keep the 12 inch one I have? Not sure if I want to spend the money to upgrade. My shop is in my basement though so it is confined.

IF you get a 42" hood, make sure ya have at least a 8ft ceiling.

8' ceiling, why? I used mine with a 7' 6" ceiling and it worked fine. yes I like the 1 micron bag just fine. My shop was in the basement for a number of years and the house filled up with sawdust. Plus I am asthmatic so that 1 micron filter bag is an absolute must. The final part of the decision to upgrade was a demand for the boss lady; upgrade and clean up the air or the shop goes! Once you upgrade you and the love of your life will be far happier. fjimp

Because mine are 7' 1/4" and it's a close fit.

The other side: the Unplugged Bench

With Spring's arrival my Unplugged Bench can come into focus. Basement has now been emptied of patio-furniture in that corner. I've pulled out this bench and added some more dog-holes in the top. (Each of the handplanes was at one time featured on this forum, too.)
This bench was made in 2007. Aside from the front (blue) vise from Rockler, it was ALL made out of found junk. And I made it so I *could* get it up the stairs in one piece if we ever move.
