and with that. I'm done.

To be honest. I'm glad to be done. The inside contains a faux bois of burled mahogony. Typical practice back then. So, my tribute to Baltimore painted furniture is over.

This was a consummate thread and super job! And you're noticeably exhausted. Rest up and enjoy!

Inspiration

I was thinking of this thread today. I've recently picked up a totally delapidated Oak machinist chest. It's so bad that proper restoration parts would triple my expenses. But I'm figuring I now have artistic license to change it totally. It won't be like holsgo's work, but I'm thinking of brainstorm ideas. Thanks for the inspiration!

Nuhobby, let's see whAt you are getting into! A machinist chest sounds great. You could go old school and get into turn of the century stuff or take an old meets new approach. Can't wait to see what you come up with or want to bounce ideas around.

Yes, I'm looking forward to it. Truth be known it's an e&ay purchase and I don't have it here yet. But I could see in the seller-photos numerous missing parts, open joints, chipped-off beading details.... no wonder no one else bid on it! I'm sort of fancying some contrasting woods used for repairs and moldings... we'll see :) .
