Well, I'm not sure who to blame, my Mom, my sister or my daughter, but I now have a shop cat. OK, so it's a kitten right now. According to my sister, the momma is the biggest, baddest mouser she's ever seen, willing to jump field rats as big as she is. While I don't recall ever having problems with mice out in my old barn/shop, maybe she'll keep the birds at bay (since bird crap on your saw table is a real nuisance). This morning is her first morning in the shop. She doesn't like the air compressor kicking in, but the SS in saw mode doesn't seem to really bother her much. This is a big plus in the cat's favor.
Anyone got any good plans for cat toys or a pen/bed/cage with heat?

I have been "blessed' with the same thing recently. Spooky the shop cat. He does'nt mind the equipment noise, in fact, crawled up my backside while I was turning on the lathe and ended up on my shoulder. Good thing I had 2 shirts on! When sitting sanding at the bench, he prefers to sit on my soulder like a bird. Hope he doesn't go 30 pounds in adulthood.

I was laying out a piece for drilling when I felt the kitten at my leg. Next thing I know she used me to get to the benchtop. Then she comes up and climbs up my chest to sit on my shoulder and watch what's going on.
I think I'll name her "Nuisance."
