Go for it JPG. It can be done the way you describe. I've been doing it in a similar matter for years.

I just happen to believe that the sled will serve me better than what I have been doing.

You know, you just might be right on. However, I did have a small incident that sorta scared me and this sled is intended to prevent that from happening again. I share only in hopes that the idea might help someone else.

BTW, Charlese, the hand saw works great. The kerf isn't as neat as with the Mark V doing the cutting but it is a kerf that allows the upper saw guard to be installed. I tried it yesterday.

Dusty has found an excuse to temporarily delay any further activity on the TV box.

WRONG, so wrong. She took me to ACE this very morning to select the finish and turned up the heat on the schedule by adding a project item.

There was already a side table in the schedule but now there are two. She made some very minor changes to the side table dimensions and plans to use it as a bedside table in the extra bedroom.

There are no acceptable excuses since the only conflicting schedules are for items for my shop (wall shelves for my peanut butter jars and cabinets for my small power tools).

WHEW!!! I cannot remember the last time I was sooo glad to be WRONG!!:)

I was worried the moving target was unattainable. Apparently either it stopped moving, or, you finally 'understood' what she wanted(that is a significant accomplishment in itself!!!;)).

Don't take me wrong on this. I lost. I discarded the build plan and started over doing something that I don't expect her to like. What I am now building is more of a bookcase than a TV stand.

But, the stand that currently holds the TV is a terrible piece of furniture that I built many years ago for a different purpose. It became the TV stand for reasons I do not recall but neither of us ever liked it. We just never saw fit to correct that.

I can assure you that if she does not like it, it will be your fault!;)

Dusty, regarding the original drawing of your ZCI sled, there's no reason to rout out a recess to accept the blank ZCI. Two registration strips along side the blank and a third behind the blank, together with buttons or tape or clamps or whatever to hold it in place would allow you to cut the slot without the tedious task of routing a recess.

Thank you for that time saving tip. To route that recess I would have to do almost the same thing just to guide the router.

I am pausing on this design while I contemplate the drilling task that is involved. I might be able to make the jig so that it will fit on the drill press table also. If not, the drilling task is really quit simple and not much of a time consumer.

Any reason to not use the ss to drill the holes?
