My most unusual sharpening device: ceramic quarter round (used to hide the gap between the wall and the bathtub). Use the inside of the quarter round to hone gouges.

Old telephone fuses(ceramic tubes).

Ah yes and similar to the set of oil stones I just received. I should add that have recently found several oddly shaped stones that are really having a great affect on my honing abilities. Two sets were purchased at a sharpening company called Spyderco in Golden, CO. A couple of others were found in a local fellows shop that my brother and I purchased some tools from. Two others a neighbor gave me. He found them at a garage sale last summer. Tis amazing how much those little odd shaped stones help. In the past I have attempted to use a set of miniature steel files that were no help at all. Jim
