I believe the
SHOPSMITH forum is largely inhabited by creatures known as tool addicts. Many of us have a tendency to collect tools, and have great excuses as to why we 'need' them. Some of them (the excuses) are probably even true.
The Sawdust Sessions are a valuable source of information which many of us use. They are available on line here.

These are filled with information and you can read the index to search for what you need.
They are also FREE which always fits well into my budget.

Yard / Garage sale season is just getting started here now. Ooooooooooo!! Tools.....
There is a lot of cheap crap out there but for the discerning buyer there are also a lot of high quality tools out there for about .10 cents on the dollar or less.
I was using a very quick and smooth cutting backsaw about a week ago and just got around to removing the .50 cent price sticker.
In keeping with the thread title I really believe that women that "do things" like woodworking are quicker to hunt out a good bargain and less entranced with shiny new stuff than men tend to be.

I am a 48y/o mom and grandma from MI. 20 years ago I lost my SS when my ex and I got a divorce (I got the kids
) fast forward. I am now an Apprentice Bladesmith, ornamental blacksmith and avid woodworker who is now working on my 4th Victorian home reno. However my other tools take up a lot of real estate and my stationary tools made things very cramped in the smaller garage we have at the new house.
I located a Mark V 500 through an estate sale and am thrilled to have a SS again, it comes home to the shop in about 2 weeks.
I'm thrilled to be here, and meet new people. Life is good!

When one couple I knew got a divorce years ago they split everything right down the middle 50%-50%.
She got the house
He got the little fishing cottage
She got the new car
He got the old station wagon (and the payment book for the new car)
She got the kids
He got the dog
She got all of his toys (except the girl he was "visiting").
She also had a big yard sale.
Then again he was the straying dog who got caught with his shop door open...
