It appears to me that the cone works perfectly - as a resting place for the coon while the coon eats.

Yea man coons are a different story. More than once I have found the feeder on the ground. Totally unhooked from the pole it hangs on. Had to be a coon.

My neighbor raises chickens and about once a year a coon gets into the chickens. Last time was 3 in the morning. What fun and noise.

My neighbor also has cats which the coons love their food. I was feeding the cats while the neighbors were away. they kept the food on a screened porch. I went over to feed and food was everywhere. The coons tore through the screen and got in. So I cleaned it all up and hung the food in a sealed bucket from a plant hook. Next day food was everywhere. This time they made a bigger hole in the screen and tore down the plant hook. When the can hit the floor the lid must have blown off and the coons ate their fill. I then set the food inside the house in front of the slidding door. The coons went crazy trying ot get in to the food. The glass was covered with coon marks and they tried to chew their way in. Life is good!

I have one neighbor that shoots coons at night. They cross his yard from the woods to come into the neighborhood and he picks them off as they cross his yard. I offered to buy all the ammunition he needed. Better than me sitting up all night waiting for a shoot.

Now I'm fighting possums. I have a peach tree and day the peach come ripe the possums climb the tree and clean it. I mean a couple hundred peaches in one night. At the base of the tree the ground is covered with peach pits.

I intend to offer to buy my neighbor a night scope for his gun so he can take a few long shoots and eliminate the possums.

Wow! After reading these, I'm in really good shape here.....just raids on the bird feeder from a couple of squirrels, the occasional marauding deer, and the flower munching bunny.

At least until the feral hogs make it to town.

You all have quite the varmit dilemas, but in my little suburb, I just got those pesky little neighbor kids. I've tried barb wire, electric fences, deadbolts, German shepards but no luck....they just keep gettin in the pantry. They're like coons only they'll come out in the daylight too

! They go right for my coco krispies and pop tarts.......

Then the kids and grandkids get there, and they can sniff out my ding dong stash at better-n 60 yards. Oh the madness.....I need a gunsafe for a pantry.

I feel your pain we are getting ready for 12 granchildren and 2 great grandchildren to decend upon us come Mother's day. The ravishing hoard can clean the panty and refrigerator in about 30 seconds. Then they sit around belly up like beached whales waiting for desert!:eek:

You know you got me thinking and maybe the squirrels, coons and possums aren't so bad after all.
