In case you don't get a specific answer, I work in an industry that has standard dealer/territory agreements and we do have big box store dealers. The restrictions are always on how the seller markets/advertises, not where the customer is from. If you in AZ had a local dealer, but ordered my product at a dealer in TX while out of town, its a fair sale as long as he wasn't advertizing back in AZ to lure you there. It's all designed to prevent dealers from poaching customers from eachother and getting in price wars.

I don't see why SS would be any different. You also would be entitled to any show discounts as well because it would be considered anti-competitive to deny the discount based on the customer's address.

Let me be more honest with this question.

If there is a PowerPro demo going on in California, can I have a friend in California attend that demo, make a purchase in my name and have it delivered to me here in Arizona. Of course I would want the warranty to be in my name.

Yes, somehow it has to be paid for but that is a different problem.

I could always give my friend my credit card but he may have trouble using it at Lowe's and signing the sales agreement. Of course, if he is a good enough friend, he'll pay cash and I'll send him the money later.

I think CA sales tax is probably higher (CA seems to be tax happy). If that is the issue, however, I'll just have to find a friend in a state that has lower sales tax AND a Lowe's demo.

The question really is will Shopsmith go along with this so that potential buyers don't have to wait until a demo comes to their area. REcognizing that there are areas where the demo never shows up.

Shopsmith doesn't have a choice, its the law. I also doubt they are upset to make any sale, even one with a small discount.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they don't have a choice. I don't know of any law that says they or anyone else must sell something (anything) to me.

Thank you for the feed back along with the time and effort to make it available. I am a very slow and poor reader and it gets even worse when the text gets legal or technical.

This may well say that Shopsmith can not do that but I still am not certain (either way).

Remember, my only purpose was to suggest a way that someone could take advantage of the demo discounts without themselves being at a demo to make the purchase.

If Shopsmith will sell this way, it might make the demo prices available to people who otherwise can not get to a demo.

Just a thought that I hope is helpful to someone.

Here are the videos he shows during the Webinar. He basically comes on, says hi, shows the video and does a Q&A at the end. It is one of the two videos, think they both are similar. Check the link you weren't sent to the discount. I know mine seemed to be available for a while after it was sent.
