When did someone start responding to e-mails? I believe whoever that is be wrong. I expect at least a warranty on manufacturing defects.

Maybe Chuck got a blessing(sticker) when SS had possession of it and decided there were no assemble defects.

I did the DIY upgrade (1st one to report on the forum) in Sep-2010; I have that same dated Serial Number on my sticker. I don't know if they still ship them that way.

Yes I did! Jim even commended me for doing a good job of assembly. (I kept that e-mail:) In fact kept all notes/exchanges regarding the re-build)

According to the recent answer from SS re: new serial numbers (post #37)- guess SS changed their minds. -----Why? Doesn't seem to make sense unless they are thinking that some of the DIYers won't use the stickers. In such a case, the present owner is put in a position to prove the date of purchase and assembly. Hmmmmm!

Does the warranty transfer with ownership? I don't believe so. If it does not, it might not make a difference. The owner would just have to rely on Shopsmith knowing when their PowerPro Headstock was built/bought.

I am the owner of two DIY PowerPro upgrades. I was in the first 10 who pre-ordered- #9, I believe. This past Memorial Day, there was a Mark 7 demo at Plymouth Meeting, PA. It just so happens, Lowe's had an 18-month interest-free special that weekend. I am retired from the Air Force, so Lowe's extends a 10% discount. Lowe's & Home Depot offer military ID card holders and VA ID card holders a 10% discount.

I took my neighbor to the demo to see a Mark 7. I ended up purchasing a second PowerPro DIY upgrade. With the 10% discount and no interest, my payments are $72 for 18 months or $2.40 per day.... Rationalization is great for justifying purchases when necessary.

Anyhow, for those of you on the wire, keep an eye open for Lowe's 18-month interest-free specials and hopefully a Shopsmith demo might be near you and a PowerPro upgrade might be in your future-it's very easy. The demo has great pricing on all the items you need to transform your Mark V into a MArk 7 or whatever you want to do and then take 18 months to pay it off. But it's up to you. I am a Shopsmithoholic...

I'll probably do my 2nd upgrade this weekend. I need to buy a couple of 220 VAC plugs. My first DIY upgrade had the same date code nuhobby has.

On my DVR control electronics unit, it has a blue label stuck to it that with this writing: WARNING NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE. BREAKING THIS SEAL VOIDS THE WARRANTY. DATE:13-JUN-12 OP WP UNIT 50-6550 FW 9.08R0711

Same warranty as any of the other upgrades for everything they provided; motor, drive and electronics...

When I go online, I can look up most of my purchased over 30 years. I can't figure out why not all. They know exactly when I purchased the upgrades.

I do remember that sticker but it is unside the heastock and not visible.

The FW is visible everytime you power up the controller, mine is "v9.02xa05 2010". Yours is clearly newer but no idea what the difference is.

Maybe this explains why the lack of a new serial number (date) on some machines. My internal sticker is orange rather than blue. It sais about the same thing as the blue ones. Didn't notice a warranty date. When it came back form SS after re-build, there was a large "X" on the sticker.
