I prefer your approach to that of isolating all the ac conductors in the motor pan but I would have polarized the quick disconnects (not relying just on color code to match up connectors). Goes back to my military days when everything in the aircraft wire harness had to be idiot proof. That made for a lot of very expensive Canon plugs.

With the line cord 'pluggable'(and the ground wire with a slip on connector) this places the switches at a more accessable location, but, all that wiring in with the moving parts is a disadvantage.

I like the wiring exiting from the motor. Dual voltage would add a couple more leads.

Yes I agree polarization is preferable especially if dual voltage is also being done.

If all works well I am planning in installing it in my latest machine (see under "lucky strike" in Community). The motor in that machine dated 1998 is actually assembled in Mexico, an Emerson.

The shipped unit is AO Smith, made in ol USA.

Ill let you know when I receive the motor. If you have a tracking number I'll watch to make sure I get it off my porch when it's delivered.

I'm really happy that the 230v volunteer motor is an AO Smith. Out of the 6 I have done so far, 5 were AO Smith's and 1 GE.

Do you want a rocker switch or toggle switch? If a rocker switch, do you want red, black, or white?

My 500 Headstock is being delivered by 2centsworth Friday. Please let me know if you can provide reversing option. Also stay with 120V.

I would prefer the toggle switch because is much easier to mount albeit the rocker looks super cool.

For the 110-220 a switch or wired connections at your convenience.

I'll scan and send you the USPS paper later today.
