Fred, I vote for the teardrop too. I would also say, keep it simple. My wife has a little one drawer bandsaw box cut from about a 3" diameter log. It's no more than about 3"in any dimension. She loves it and keeps a few special rings in it. You're making a passel of these. .. no need for them to be complex.

Artsy or functional. the alternatives are obvious.

I say let the raw material determine much!

Since the teardrop style is much harder to make and the drawers don't hold as much do to their shape, I have decided to go with a more standard shape for the next few boxes and see how it goes. Then I will decide which way I want to go for the remaining boxes.

Can't seem to get going on these jewelry boxes. Takes at least 5 times as long to make one as a Bowl. And one slip of the band saw and you destroy your work. Don't ask me how I know

At this rate I will only have a dozen or so by Christmas. Only very close family members will be getting one instead of 60 family and friends like last Christmas with the bowls.

What a lucky dozen family members. Those are absolutely stunning!

As usual Fred stunning work. They look magnificent. You sir are a excellent wood worker. When I grow up I want to be like you !
