Heath, they're on Amazon for $15 if you want one. That's where I got mine.heathicus wrote: I was at a very old hardware store recently and saw a handful of those Lufkin Red End Folding Rulers in a cup on the counter. They were about $19.
Great idea and I think I might even have one stashed away somewhere here at Chaos Manor.heathicus wrote: I sometimes use a caliper for (table saw fence measurements). Just a cheap little vernier caliper I got at Harbor Freight for a couple bucks. It's easy to take a measurement with the jaws (inside or outside), then use the depth measurement to transfer that to the fence.
That is brilliant. I ran out and checked but no gap, not even a feeler gauge would fit under the fence. But the fence does have a series of holes drilled through it's heavy metal casting. I would really like to connect 2 of the holes to form a slot where I could slide my folding ruler through. The old craftsman fence is generally nice but I have to make double sure it's parallel to the blade every time. The near side measurement from blade to fence is a lot easier for me that the far. The slot would make it slick and simple.JPG40504 wrote: Is there a gap between the bottom of the fence and the table top? If so, a thin(thinner than the gap) ruler of any length will work. Slide it under the fence, butt the end against the blade(extended tooth) and read from the edge of the fence.
