Not quite accurate. The kids may have picked it up not realizing the darker connotation. I did some research and the etymology of dissing is revealing, particularly how words come into our vocabulary. The earliest revelation of this word I could find was related to a murder trial in LA. So, if the clerk at the store says, "Have a nice day" and I don't like the way he looks at me I should shoot him? Or perhaps, just nod agreement and move on. When a clerk says, "have a good one" I think he is reminding me to pick up my Viagra so he isn't dissing me - or maybe he is because that particular clerk is black and he IS huge. Maybe he's telling me that he is young, I'm old, he's black, I'm white, he is prolific and I need help. Oh, yeah! He's dissing me!]must [/B]do is not disrespect. It is simply deciding to do otherwise without confrontation.

For those who ignore me and move on you each must donate $20 to the Wounded Warriors Project. My boss told me tell you this and I'm just carrying out orders.

SO... I had to wait a few and then respond, overall good advice, BUT...

If I was the doorman, I'd have your car towed so fast your head wouldn't even have time to spin. A parking lot IS private property.
Of course If I couldn't do that I wouldn't waste my time talkin to you.

As far as the stupid ADA law, to many fat A'd slobs get on those stupid store scooters w/ a 120 ouncer of soda cause theyre just too fat and stupid to walk, so YAH the store should have a right to ask WHY you need a scooter or a dog, last thing I need is some fat dope to run over my foot while some untrained yappy dog chews at my ankles....

And YES...I'm white, bitter and old, no I'm not entitled, nor is anyone that is young, happy and not white.

If a person gets tired of having too many pages when viewing longer threads, he/she can make a simple change to have fewer pages. He/she can change the number of posts per page that exist on his/her Shopsmith Forum. Possible changes are 5, 10, 20, 30 or 40 posts per page.

Follow these directions if you wish to have fewer pages to view all of the posts. Click on "User CP" , click on "Edit Options", scroll down to the "Thread Display Options" and there find (in the third box) an option to "Number of Posts to Show Per Page". There he/she can change the number of posts per page up to as high as 40.

That's pretty anal, but tells the story!

One thing that has been exposed with this thread is the propensity of folks nowadays to be be 'offended'!

Sheesh poor baby!

Fergit being offended, and consider it education.

If one stomps off or disregards 'input' because of overly sensitive 'feelings' any possible 'good' from the experience will never be realized.

Reflection is much better than rejection.

I learned a long time ago to suppress those 'being offended' emotions.

Even further back I learned to NOT stomp off and take the ball home with me!

My definition was correct. What you found is how kids retaliated when they felt they had been dissed (disrespected).

Feeling 'dissed' or 'offended' is a poor excuse for 'intolerable' behavior towards the 'provider'.

Giving it back may be considered 'corrective' action, but 'escalation' is not, especially to the point of bodily harm!

BTW some 'kids' today do not even respect themselves(nor each other) so IMHO they are dissing everyone including themselves. Not all, but far too many.

As for tongue in cheek humor etc. on this forum, consider the source. Some are loose shotguns(as am I) and others are always serious(their cross to bear:rolleyes:). I have found life more bearable during stress when humor enters the horizon.

Since this forum isn't set up for video chat I can only tell you that right now, I have my serious face on. But, that's just a facade.
A healthy sense of humor and a smile most of the time does infuriate some folks, though.
There's not enough time in our lives (no matter your age) to be too terribly serious. Life is meant to be enjoyed. I pity those who believe differently.
