Metal shielded bearings are 'normal'. IMHO rubber sealed ones are better, especially the motor. Otherwise I think the shielded ones are ok. The headstock does tend to get rather hot.

Unless yer 10ER is late enough to have the thinner tubes, they should be almost 1/4" thick wall.

Not a clue re fishing here. I have insufficient patience fer that!

The reason I like evaporust for tubes, is that it also cleans up any interior rust as well. I think HF with coupon is the best deal on a gallon. 2" pvc pipe with end cap and screw plug and a 1" pipe with two endcaps(to reduce the amount of evaporust required). cut them just long enough to hold the tube(52 3/4"+). The way tubes are 52 but the the Mark x bench tubes are 52 3/4".

The goldie headstock tends to get hot? Why is that? Bearings?

JPG, minus any burrs in the ends, ect, my dial veneer, .247!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A quarter if an inch thick!!! So lets do some time this fall?

When I started with the pretty clean Greenie I was at HF after reading here about the de ruster, If I remember right it was 27$ a gallon minus any coupon, around 10$ a quart. To rich for my blood!!!!!

I got several qts fer less than $2 each when Lowes discontinued it. Had a friend in Sevierville TN pick them up there. Local stores only had one qt. I brought them home the next time I went there.

Now you know how difficult communication is when words are inadvertently 'added' upon repetition.

OBTW JPG, the trunion teeth and the teeth on the Quill were fine, not damaged, they look like new, minus some packed in saw dust in one area. That was not part of the problem, but where they were in contact with each other they was no way to see that area.
