Notice of Absence
This has been hard and I hope that it is over. We lost a member this month because he would not comply with the forum guide lines. With that, there are hopes that the forum will return to being the friendly neighborhood that it once was.
That member was not alone when he went on his unacceptable rants. He had enablers, all of whom are still with us. Hopefully all of them, in fact all of us, realize that that behavior is unwanted by this membership and that we all act accordingly.
Hopefully this will return to being the most friendly, helpful wood working forum that it once was.

Dusty, because someone is friendly to a troublemaker, doesn't make them an "enabler."
You GOT your wish, and Bob is gone. Give it a break, already!

10 ER, stripped down.
Basic 10ER, Parts machine. Will be a semi-dedicated drill-press machine.
10 ER, a "survivor" of the trailer fire, in the back yard, needing restoration. Has a Mk5 headrest. Finally, stripped down.
Numerous parts, for Model 10 stuff. Except for lower saw guard, A and B adapters, I've got it.
Looking for one more, or some 9 inch extension table raisers.

Dusty did not wish for anyone to leave the forum and Dusty's use of the term enabler covers a much broader territory. Very few people here have really absorbed what Dusty really wants for this forum. We hear a lot of things but we do not listen. We read but do not comprehend. We think only what we want to think. Problem is that people do not really think anymore. Enough already? Dusty has spent more time on this forum since it's conception helping others and freely giving of his unselfish time than most and we need to respect his abilities and his knowledge of which I suspect he displays only a very modest amount of it. Loose people like Dusty and you loose the forum. Enough already indeed.

Interesting choice of words!
While on the subject of 'enablers', consider the efforts of another who 'immediately' joined Dusty on his thinly veiled attempt to coerce his opinion upon us all.
I do not deny their right to express their opinion, nor do I think tolerating one whom is 'different' is any less reasonable.
I do respect Dusty for who he is. Same for everyone else who comes here.
I do not know the details of the 'departure' of the gentleman from Germantown(assumming he IS gone), but I did try to get him to cool it on more than one occasion. Since I seemed to be one who he at least paid a bit of attention to I felt it might have helped.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. This applies only to those who are first honest with themselves. Those of us with a more tolerant bent will continue to suffer the rest.

Guys, here in Arizona, there are a LOT of HOAs. And, there is also a high chance the HOA will have a HOA-Nazi as the president. (My mother lived in a HOA-run tract, and the president there was a petty dictator, so I know first-hand.)
I see a striking similarity between these "presidents" and some members here.
Interesting, the guy who started this thread, is STILL around, and his target is gone. Dusty, how about renaming the thread? "Notice of Absence-Bob"

Dusty cannot, and I doubt Admin will.skou wrote:Guys, here in Arizona, there are a LOT of HOAs. And, there is also a high chance the HOA will have a HOA-Nazi as the president. (My mother lived in a HOA-run tract, and the president there was a petty dictator, so I know first-hand.)

Since this is not woodworking oriented, I can put my two cents in as well. I will side with Dusty on this 100 percent (sorry JPG
). If I had been moderating this forum, and I have extensive experience in that function, Bob would have been gone on my watch as well.
Now with that said, Bob did have a lot to add to the knowledge pool here and I will miss that. What I won't miss is the barrage of meaningless posts, the hyperbole ideas distracting the theme of the thread, the need to "translate" posts for better understanding by other members, etc. Some people are just caustic to a cause and Bob IMHO was caustic: hence the need for someone like Dusty to take a stand and I am glad he did.
For one, I am glad Bob's antics are gone, I am also sorry we won't be able to glean his knowledge, for I think he did have something to add. Life is how you present yourself, hopefully Bob learned something from this, as I hope we all did.
