I wholeheartedly accept, however, I don't feel that apologies are ever due for the comments that are typical to this forum. The real value in this forum is in the fact that here we are able to voice opinions.

Yes, I'm a bit obnoxious about posts that do not follow the topic of a thread. Why? Because it makes it very hard to get back to a particular post if you can't search for it. If someone makes a comment about routers that I would like to reread or respond to and that comment was made in a thread about Sawtrain - well, I'll probably never find it.

I would like to see threads titled like "Crosscut Sled, More Accurate than Miter Gauge" or "Shopsmith, Table Alignment" or "Glue Joints, Food Friendly" or "Routers, Pin vs Freehand".

If I want to find a post that someone made about Sawtrain, a search for Sawtrain by author pinkiewerewolf might get me there.

I too apologize. I will be less obtrusive in the future and will keep this sort of opinions to myself. I am old and cranky (charlese and Nick have a word for it) but you folks don't need to suffer because of my shortcomings.

Geez! I was going to thank curious george for his post, but took time out to cut the tails of my developing dovetail joints, go to the grocery store and watch UCLA get soundly beat. When I returned to this thread - I was shocked! I know it is easy to get lost, or mis read something, however, I thought curious george's post was quite clear! And his photo was outstanding. I thought this post was right on target. Not the same brand, but same type of setup. Maybe the reason for getting lost, was going to the last post and failing to read all of the above posts. I know I have gotten off target this way. It was curious george that first brought up the "Shopsmith jointech", (post # 28) and with a good photo! Pinkie just picked up on it - like I did.

Little did I know what a jointech was, or that it was made by Sawtrain. Look it up and you will see all the new names. To look at Sawtrain's equipment, just google - Shopsmith jointech You'll see they make units that fit the Mark Vs. I did write a private message to curious, and asked him a couple of questions. Also, (I know this sounds unbelievable), as one of the most vocal of those questioning "why all the precision?" I ordered a catalog from Sawtrain.

To curious george - If you are reading this - Thanks for your post! It added a new dimension for me. Don't think I'll be shelling out for a new system soon, but at least, because of your post, I'll have the opportunity! We need you, curious!

P.S. - Sorry, still learning the names - Jointech is the company that makes Sawtrains to fit quite a few machines. From what I gather so far, the Sawtrain to fit Shopsmith machines was first made by Jointech in 2000 for what they called - Shopsmith, the very popular 5 in one machine.

Chuck, I did order a brochure for the Sawtrain too.
I'm still a bit unclear on how the Incra and the Sawtrain set up for making dovetails and such.
I am used to seeing jigs like the P/C Omnijig.
Or are they limited to Box joints?

You should see the forum I help moderate. It gets alot more off topic. Another universe from topic most of the time and I do understand what you mean about finding a subject. It can be next to impossible at times, which brings redundant questions.
I'll try to stay on track more, but I am a chatty Kathy, so maybe I should use the PM function more often.

I looked at the jointech for shopsmith:

and the web page is fairy confusing in its description of exactly what you get, etc. More pictures would be nice. As confusing at times at navigating through Shopsmith's web pages, at least I have a better idea as to what exactly is included in the purchase. Also I read on another forum that jointech's support was lacking somewhat:

+1. I'd like to see the Incra's put through their paces, maybe even compared to a 520 and a Pro Fence route table.

This is a great idea! After reading all of the responses to this thread, I'm still not convinced that the Incra system has any advantages over what I already have.
