Ed, I gather that you received the second, factory-tested square from Woodpeckers?
Your tests certainly seem to prove that the hole spacing on the green-tape square is off — different on each side of the square.
What happens if you stack the two squares, and attempt to pin them together with those red pins?
Also, if you insert the pins into one square, can you measure across the pin OD’s with calipers? I’m guessing that the hole spacing is too big for a standard-sized caliper to span.

Yes the second square arrived today. Decided it was as good a time as any to evaluate them. Since temperature/humidity/and other factors could have come into play I decided to test them both so things could be as even as possible. I even let the newest one set for a couple of hours next to the original, acclimated should have lessened errors for that too.
The holes in the squares are over sized, I assume to make up for errors in the MFT so the red dogs are not a snug fit in the holes in the square but are tight in the MFT.
My guess is that I did a more exhaustive test then Woodpecker did. Ever.
I have no measuring gear to check them out. These are the times I miss work where we had a state of the art shop and optical measuring devices that would make short work of finding the error.
I'll contact Woodpecker with my findings and then return the "bad" square and I still have to decide if I want to keep the "good" one or not. When the MFT top wears out you can flip it over for a second work surface and after that you can purchase or make a new one. Just wondering if that will be better or worse then the existing...........

While there may be deviations in MFT I think you have proven there certainly are in the square.
To me this says Woodpecker is not as precise as they advertise themselves to be. Their super high prices are based on “high” precision but this makes me question that claim

Can you use a regular pin in one hole and a slightly tapered pin in a second hole? Will that pull it into "proper" alignment while allowing for varied hole spacing?
