My brother and I are close though physically separated. We have talked about "the treasures" and those that he is interested in have or are being turned over to him. Weapons are an issue that we have finally resolved with the aid of licensed gun dealer. No grief to be passed on there.

My daughters and their families all reside here in Arizona, most of them here in Tucson. They are all watching the happenings and have voiced their wants; most get satisfied on the spot.

Nonetheless, we are boxing items for storage. Items like seasonal decorations and many others not worthy of great discussion. A this very moment, we have about three well packed pickup loads to go to storage. Week after next there is going to be a caravan formed in my front drive way to relocate that to storage. Everyone is paying their fair share for that space and all will have access.

Yes, there will have been a few dollars spent for rent over the next few years but it would have been spent anyway.

As for the art works, that has already been physically distributed with the exception of three pieces my wife kept to hang in our new residence. Those three pieces have been tagged as well. Even the grand kids hauled off what they wanted.

It takes a while to get settled in.

Then its smooth sailing.

Life has a way of disrupting even the most carefully laid plans. I have my office and shop nearly all packed and ready for relocation to the new (smaller) house. Due to circumstances, most of which are beyond my control, we might not be able to do this.

I am not selectively unpacking; unpacking just enough to once again make some sawdust. For the time being I will be woodworking out of a box, many boxes at is of the cardboard U-Haul type.

Lesson learned: When you pack, mark the boxes with some indication of what is in them. I did not do that because I believed that all of the shop would be relocated at the same time. Shop to shop and unpack. Funny me.

Now if I need something it is somewhat like an egg hunt.

I don't know where this turn is taking me; only time will tell.

If the 'turn' is slow moving, you may have time to unpack it all and repack it with 'inventory control/documentation'.

At the least, document what/where you 'find' when searching.

I believe I have unpacked most everything I am likely to "need". I have or have ready access to what I need to do some wood working. I am not going to push it for now.

The place we were going to move into became "unavailable" so we are back searching for a SHOP with attached living facilities (near to the AF base and too far away from my medical support. We'll get it done it just won't be before the end of the year now. Bad thing is the housing market here. That factor is working against me. Home prices are UP. Watch, when we finally put the house on the market, prices will fall.

House across the rd is for sale , it is old and not in the best shape, in one way it hope they get what they are asking and in a way I dont , my property value will go up and means more property tax.

It would be ok if I was in the market to refinance or sale.

But property taxes are so very little when compared to your equity value. I wouldn't mind seeing an increase in my property taxes at all; at least not an increase based solely on property value.

But then maybe my thoughts are tainted by the fact that I am about to put house and property on the market after thirty five years.

I'm just thankful that the market value and the tax value are not tightly linked. If I play this right, I just may end up with a PowerPro upgrade.

We were hitting some yard / garage sales this past weekend as we usually do except in winter. Yeah, I'm still buying tools. We were at one in town here that was a fair sized sale. I don't even recall what we bought. I was chatting with the guy and I saw Diana walking around the corner with his wife. When I followed around the corner the lady had a garden trowel and was digging "starts" out of her zillion plants and giving them to Diana. We were chatting and I got to looking around more at the place. I had been looking at tools, not the house. It was a nice place, fairly large. Not flashy or showy but in good shape and had flowers and plants everywhere. Lots of work in the landscaping especially on a city lot. The guy had a bit of a woodshop in his garage (no Shopsmith stuff ). I'm guessing that they were about 50ish. Their house was for sale and they were "down-sizing"...
They were more than downsizing a little. The lady told us that when the house sells they are buying a big motor-home and will be be doing the full time RV thing... No base location, no specific destination, no real plan. Just climb in and go, maybe for the rest of their lives. Or maybe not. She said that if someday they change their minds they will just start over again from scratch...
Now that is some serious down-sizing.
Going to be tough to fit a woodshop in an RV. Also hard to have many plants.

We are tossing some crap and selling some stuff and cleaning the attic some and things like that but wow... try to put our whole lives in an RV full time... Just couldn't do it. We have 6 horses, a dog and 2 cats that are family. I have a big wood shop (finally ) and I have 19 old tractors to work on. Can you imagine the trailer that would have to be behind that motor-home?

We will not be relocating near as soon as I had hoped. The deal has fallen through. It will most likely be necessary for me to do some limited unpacking. I have too many fires in the fire to go without tools.

We were in Sears yesterday. As we walked through the tool department mu wife commented that I needed one of these large tool boxes on wheels. Then I could unpack and when needed the whole thing could just be rolled out and into the truck. The chest set that she was looking at was $1500.

Hmmm I gotta think on that.

Does anyone have any strong opinions about Craftsmen tool chests. I looked at some earlier (before I thought she would go for it) at Lowes. Without doing any research, I was of the opinion that the chests at Lowes were superior. I also like the Husky.

Feedback, Please.
