It appears we have gone from Model 10 serial number information to Mark 5's.

Now back to the topic of Model 10 Serial Numbers and documenting them. Everett I believe if it too difficult to submit a serial number for inclusion to the list we will miss a lot of machines. I do believe requiring a picture of the complete machine be it assembled or a pile of parts will not get us any of the parted out machines listed. Some of the sellers on eBay may be willing to supply a list of those they have parted out if they know the S/N's but not supply pictures they may or may not even have. Also a fourth category of original/still operating for those that are still going with no plans to restore.
Out of the over 300 I have on my list that I previously mentioned I have pictures of only 252 of the Logo/Serial Number Plates. I have very few that I have pictures of the complete machines. Mostly the ones I do or have owned. I understand your desire for accuracy but we could lose a lot of good information. The information I have collected has given me the trends for changes in the machines, confirmed the serial number prefixes of E, ER and R as to east or west plants and more. Everett do you have any additional thoughts on this?

The Vent/Serial Number plate picture gives us a lot of information. The Mark 5/V serial Number production dates has a large hole in it. It is missing 1962 till they went out of production later in the 1960's and from the time Shopsmith Inc. formed and restarted production of the Mark 5 in 1973 with Serial Number SS-1001 until 1978. Yours was made by Magna American Corp. after they took over production from Yuba. It is a "Goldie" so it would have been made in 1963 before Magna American changed the color of the Mark 5 to gray.My dad just gave me a shopsmith that he believes is from around 1973. I have a serial number for it but i cant find what year it is from. Ive checked the http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/serialnumber.htm list and its not on there.
It is a Mark 5. Looks like a goldie. The serial number is 381089.
Anyone have any idea of when it from and what model it is?
