From what I found your #8 wire size is to small. But I'm knot sure what wattage/amps totals your using either. My info say use #8 for 65 ft one way. Then there's your local codes.

There will always be some dimming at startup because of the momentary increase in current draw by the Mark V. It certain installations that dimming may not be visually detectable but it is there. Simply connect an ac volt meter to the service line and turn the Mark V on/off a few times and watch the meter. When the voltage drops - the lights are dimming!

This uTube video shows the line voltage and current changes that occur in my shop.

This is great, and a perfect example or what must be going on with the power in my garage. It's probably a 20A circuit then since I'm not tripping the breaker, but I'm just getting that huge voltage drop in the beginning. I'll just make sure to always start it slow. Thanks dusty!

Actually, this demo was performed on a 15amp circuit. What must be taken into consideration is that this demo was not performed with a heavy load ie, there was no sanding disc, no jointer or no turning blank, etc mounted. These items, if attached, would tend to increase the momentary current spike (momentary voltage drop) which could trip the breaker.

I am not certain but I believe there was a saw blade/arbor mounted.

I'd say it's a 15 amp circuit.
