Isn't that the truth we went over the cliff and we are still here. WOW!jhut83 wrote:One man's truth is another man's propaganda.
But that truth is still truth to "another man", whether propaganda or not. That's what is so good about truth. He may deny it but it is still truth. Propaganda, on the other hand, is propaganda because it can't be backed up.jhut83 wrote:One man's truth is another man's propaganda.
Some, not as much as Mondale did in '84. You don't think some folks didn't vote for him because he was going to raise their taxes?pennview wrote:Dave, do you really believe that Obama took "pain" when he proposed raising income taxes on 1 to 2 percent of the population when about 47 percent don't pay any federal income tax at all?
Maybe that's true. It's also completely irrelevant to my point. The spending cuts--and the tax increases--necessary to fix the problem will be painful and politically suicidal. Obama took a tiny sip of strychnine. The House Republicans haven't opened their bottle yet.pennview wrote:Hiking taxes on the so-called rich does noting to control spending, nor does it do much to reduce the deficit. Here's the math -- $65 billion a year from those tax increases vs. a deficit in fiscal year 2012 of $1.1 trillion. Had those tax increases been in effect last year the deficit would have been reduced by less than 6 percent.
Not to worry, each taxpayers share of the national debt today is $145,615.

There's all your "truth" just as you posted it. How is this informing anyone?keakap wrote:would a Republican president have gotten away with breaking Law and knowingly and wantonly violating the Constitution by illegally making Hitlery Clinton Secretary of State?
It seems obvious that some people aren't aware of the issues behind the comments responded to, now taken from context. If they were made aware that they do not know about which they speak, they'd either want to learn or refuse to, generally speaking.jhut83 wrote:There's all your "truth" just as you posted it. Of course, the truth is that that is not the truth.jhut83 wrote:There's all your "truth" just as you posted it.
AGREED!jayp413 wrote:Unfortunately what is happening right here in the thread is exactly what is happening on the congress and senate floors. Houses devided. Neither side will budge and it is tearing the country apart. Notice I said NEITHER side. It amazes me how far apart these parties as a whole can be. The job should simply be to improve life conditions for americans as a whole. Rich, poor and inbetween. We need to focus on rebuilding this country before we worry about anything else. I have a long way to go (God willing) in this world. I have started a family and really wonder at times what they will have for oppotunities out there. I have worked and paid taxes, medicare, social security since I was old enough to and the fact these benefits might not be there for me pisses me off. I would like a refund if that is the case. This is a problem that has been snowballing MANY presidents back. We need to put our differences aside and work together to not be a laughing stock around the world and get this country where it should be. On TOP!
