Glad the key worked for you! I guess that's official confirmation that the Sawsmith RAS and Mark VII share the same key. Was also nice chatting with you too.

Don't be in a hurry to do something. I figured out how to disassemble this thing with no help but didn't rush. I don't know what your mechanical or spatial relationship skills are so won't assume that written instructions will easily transfer. Sort of like trying to tell me how to read music. To a musician it is easy; to me Mandarin is easier. Look at everything JPG has posted and ask him questions. He has the patience of Obama (who will wait forever before taking action). He, unlike O will provide good advice and guidance.
If you don't know what you are doing - don't. I recall doing something I wish I had not done when restoring the one I had and wishing I hadn't. I don't recall what it was I did - but I have the "fix" that I will give you. Imagine that, someone giving you a fix in Oklahoma rather than selling it to you.

update:
I have completely disassembled the MK VII and ready to clean the parts. Managed not to break or marr anything in the process. I did find some surprises.
All the bearings and belts are in excellent condition. The speed control seems to be in very good condition. The interlock on the power switch was missing as well as the nut that was supposed to secure it. Had I known this a key was not necessary to operate the switch. It still functions like it is supposed to without a key. I believe a PO probably removed the interlock because of a lost key? The biggest problem and one that has probably killed the project is pests. Something has eaten almost all the insulation on all the wires from end to end. I don't see how the motor started without a dead short, but it did more than once. I don't believe the wiring to the motor can be repaired without a complete rewire and I am not prepared to do that.
It kind of depends on how much wire is still intact beyond the housing grommet. Also the insulation is gone to the motor starter, capacitor and switch.
Will do some more checking and more than likely will part it out.

Ouch, sorry to hear. When you say "rewind", did you mean "re-wire"? Rewinding the motor is probably not an option, but re-wiring between components is not terribly hard to do. The market for Mk VII parts has to be pretty small.

oops! Should have said re-wire. Your right the market for MK VII parts is small but there is plenty of room in the land fill. Also if there is no insulated wire to splice to, you have a problem in "River City". Some of the wires can be replaced but some can't.

All can be replaced! Gotta get inside though. Might have to use a soldering iron. Land fill!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
