No re the challenge.

Looks pretty organized to me. You must be too lazy to look for stuff!:D

Now for some unsolicited advice. You apparently have a very wide monitor. I had a problem in the past in that everything I posted required most folks to scroll left/right to read my posts. I had to do that to read your last post. I believe the size of your largest pix sets the width. Just something to consider.

Sorry, didn't realize they were quite that large as I had downsized them as my phone camera makes HUGE pictures. Yes I have a wide monitor, but I thought that most browsers sized accordingly for the text.

I find it "funny" being as I come from the internet during dialup (which it seems many of you did also by this post!) that I always have tried to make pictures/webpages small and compact.

Now ebay yells at you if your picture isn't huge when you post. Sites give you flash pictures, audio etc. So I guess I have unknowingly backed off on my compact size of pictures. I downsized these a bit, they didn't need to be large anyway.

Since admin has recently increased the max dimensions to 1024 x 1024, that is a good size limit for external pix as well.

Don't throw out an old hard drive before listing it on ebay. There are forensics and data recovery people who may need parts - like the controller board - for their work. When you list it, be very detailed about brand, model, revision numbers, numbers printed on the controller board (if visible) etc.

I had a hard drive containing priceless family pictures die a few years ago. Like a dumb newbie I didn't have a backup. The platters were fine, it was the controller board that was dead. I had a friend who worked in hard drive forensics. He replaced the board (he happened to have an exact match) long enough for me to get the pictures off.

You do know sandpaper will go bad. The new stuff uses a glue that will break down and life of the paper will be shortened. Also those nasty critters silverfish love the paper and glue.

I stocked up on Shopsmith sanding disks for the disk sander about 25 years ago. Almost every sheet I haven't already used is about useless.

Ed, (sorry to change subjects, yet again) with one of my recent Model 10 purchases, I got a few sets of sanding drums. The early Magna branded ones are still viable, but the later Shopsmith ones have delaminated. (Tighten up that bolt, and they just unwind.)

This doesn't seem to be an un-common theme here. Maybe, someone in QC needed to C their Q.

Well now. Maybe this is how I finance my PowerPro. Just reactivate my EBay account and start posting items there. Old hard drives, old floppy drives, old memory boards and small drawers full of wire wrap ic sockets (all descriptions). I got a few ICs as well from back in my 8080/8086 days.

Maybe I should have parted out those computers that went to Goodwill.

I would make sure the hard drives are totally wiped of all info before I sold them.
My computer guy has more than once retrieved erased, destroyed files.

I have heard claims that you can erases and rewrite over the data 6 times and the original is recoverable.

I don't know by I do know I have seen old hard platter disk drives off 360 computers that had head crashes where the physical head carved across the surface of the disk and data was recovered.

I never let a hard drive out of my possession until it is completely smashed.

Does this concern not depend on what sort of information one puts on the hard drive. I don't have anything on my hard drives that would cause me any concern.

The only thing there that I don't put on the forum is family photographs and monthly budget. No account numbers, no periodic statements, no emails from.....well from anyone other than forum members and I don't know anyone at FEC or IRS or CIA or FBI or.........
