We are now a skating rink. Ice around the farm ranges from 1 to 4 inches thick. We are having to be very careful getting about and walking around outside no more than necessary. We have limbs down everywhere and most of them are frozen into the ice. We can't even get through many parts of the barn lots and have to go the long way around to get through. We are getting extra use out of the golf cart since with its new traction grip rear tires it still gets around the ice well. We are using it where we would normally walk just because it is so much safer. I have not been down to the woodshop in a couple of days now but may give it a shot tomorrow. It does not look like this stuff is going away very soon.

All of that stuff aside that shop is looking great Jim. Keep the info and pictures coming.
BTW, I consider a clock very important, I would hate to miss a meal.

Thanks Farmer I am sorry to hear about the ice. The outdoor pictures have been put off once more. We have been getting snow since late morning. It is nice to hear that some of us still find important use for clock, I too enjoy fine meals I also still need to work to support my habits. Once the sky clears and some of the ice and snow melts I will deliver exterior pictures. As I think about the snow and ice perhaps its not so bad; after all it is postponing the sprinkler system and reforestation of our hillside. Oh how I hate that mix of work. Fjimp

I'm also in favor of a clock in the shop. Matter of fact, I have a shop full of them... too bad most are only correct twice a day.

I built my shop from the slab up. A 26x32 "garage package" from 84 lumber. I bought a set of plans for 9 bucks, and the store will give you prices and options. I never had so much fun in my life! I also could hardly stay with the plans, as new ideas came up weekly! You guys certainly have nice workshops, and I wanna see the dust after a year or so working in there!! Good job! jimsjinx

Well now that was similar to my dream. After three knee surgeries including a total knee replacement and two rotator cuff surgeries I find I am not allowed on ladders and unable to do much above my head. Hiring a contractor and watching the entire process with child like anticipation was my best option. In that we have close neighbors I needed to be certain I would not upset anyone with my plans. The neighbor immediately next to the new shop; when shown the plans and being asked if he had any issues, quipped "Only envy!" Another neighbor seeing the finished project asked if I was holding a party and serving Alaskan Salmon to celebrate my new man cave. He then smiled and added that if that room had been added to his place his wife would have taken it over and invited him to find a corner in the basement. Somehow I envy your approach. Fjimp

I have a lot of jobs that need doing here on the farm (like a good bit of outside remodeling like siding and trim work on the shop and other buildings.) I also have several nice horse clients that keep volunteering to help and some that want to do some work to work down their monthly bill. Ideal situation right? Not really They are really nice folks but skills just are not there. I really need to take on a few horses from a carpenter or plumber or electrician.
I have one woman's husband that is an explosives expert with the ATF. He is a great guy but I'm not sure how I could use his skills and I'm sure he and his wife make enough money that they don't need to work off their bill.
I just need a really hungry carpenter... Maybe then I could catch up on shop time.

Jim, been lurking in the background to read the progress and see the pics of your new shop. Great job on the shop and boat. I am green with envy. Proud for you.

I best be careful here. I am truly proud of my new shop in fact am still spending time every day bringing the pieces together. Just today I order a Jet Air Filtration system. Thanks Woodcraft for a good deal online. I took a couple of pictures of one side of shop from the outside. The hill in our yard is steep and about 1 1/2 feet deep in ice and snow. I will try again later after a bit of melt.

The boat unfortunately is not mine and I had no hand in building it. But thanks just the same for positive affirmations. After investing most of today in moving snow I needed that. Fjimp
