Not sure how well this will show up but this is the quality of the cut with new knives.









Not a lot of progress made these last couple of days. Long days putting out fires on the day job and the temperature has dropped off the charts for my neck of the woods.

Come on up to ND guys! We had about -40 with windchills recently. Fortunately it has "warmed" up a bit to minus 25 windchills and 4 below real temp.

I would LOVE to see your shop sometime. By the looks of things you could start running a tour business through there!

GREAT work. GREAT ideas.

His shop would already pass a health department inspection(according to Dusty), so adding a restaurant for those tourists would be a snap.

Then he could quit his 'day job' and be a tour guide.

Insurance may be a problem!

I knew I would catch it from you hard A$$e$. 5 degrees on my way to work yesterday and that's my limit. You can keep North Dakota or better yet just give it to Canada.



If I ever pick the correct 6 numbers I will just open a free woodworking academy in some nice worm place. I will even pay Dusty's room and board!

Parts are starting to stack up but I am still waiting on some more 8/4 alder to come in.

The good news: This thing is designed for large stock.

The bad news: This thing is designed for large stock. I am a little disappointed that it will not punch the center of a 3/4" board. That means we are going to have to get a little farther along in the project before using it.






That's one long domino!





At least it came with a new decal for the tool box lid. Actually I think it was designed to go on a lighter surface. Oh well to late.

So I decided to make a new jig for drilling on the 520.






Lots of holes to drill and keep them from interfering later with the domino's.






I also made an assemble jig for these panels.






This is one of two sanding jigs of my own design that I made a while back. It is important to keep the items you are sanding from vibrating and jumping around especially on stain grade projects. If it moves under the sander it is creating sanding marks. This jig works very well. Pat applied for.

The glued up alder panels I made when you were not looking.






This is where I trimmed the assembly jig down and moved it to the Jaw Horse.
This will give more freedom for the clamps.






The glued up alder panels fit between two of the frames. Notice I have left room for expansion. I have nailed them on one side only to keep them square. That way they are free to expand and contract.






Ready for the top frame.






One down. Now I just need to repeat the process 7 more times.






No more tears gloves!


This time of the year my hands crack badly. Some times gripping the clamps and especially releasing them can bring tears to my eyes.
I bought these gloves at TS and the little gripping dots work very well and made clamping much more tolerable.





A little tip for clamping in the center of a panel.

This is the finished piece.






The bottom of these will be some what visible. They are to wide for the edge stroke sander but a little touch up with the block plane worked well. I will go back and fill the joints with Famo Wood for the final sanding.
