Wikipedia is a bit off on their dates of phone system updates. The 40s and 50s? No way!

I was in Judith Gap MT. In 1960. Actually 20 miles East of the town. The folks there were trilled because they were going to get telephones - the first for them! WHEATLAND COUNTY IS in central Mt.

It has been a while since I read that article but I suspect they are quoting when the first upgrades came. For sure in the metropolitan areas. Those upgrades came a lot later in the hinter lands. Montana is not exactly a hub of population now and certainly not then. Judith Gap is certainly out there and I love that. That is why I live on the end (almost) of a dead end road with 2 acres. Do they even have cell phone coverage 20 miles from town today?

Just kidding Charlese, but I hope you get the point. :)

I do not know about Judith Gap but my mother in law does not have cell phone coverage and she lives in Geraldine.

And here I thought the Hope and Change President in is first year if elected, promised to have cell and internet coverage for all in rural areas. I guess that he was a bit short on that promise. But there is still Hope.

Sure they do! When that happens, the cost of cellular goes up.

I have been reading about areas ATT after some date later in the decade will not be doing line replacements, do to high cell phone users and loss of land line customers. I guess if we are still around or/and our grand children can talk about that here on this really gone astray thread.

ME, and a couple of computer monitors as well.

Back to the old days - RF CONVERTER(etc). :D

BTW the concern re cell phones(no land lines) has to do with folks living up in the hollers. Cell phones have similar problem as GPS. That is one place where cable phone service actually makes sense - land lines again!
