Yup. Just as I suspected. They look just like new. Great job. Now you have to decide if you are going to make saw dust with it. If you do, it is sure to get dirty and maybe even scratched.

Well it is looking nice, I really don't have room for it, originally my brother wanted it so I was to restore it for him, but now he changed his mind, is buying a free standing lathe. So I will be putting this Greenie on ebay I guess.dusty wrote: Now you have to decide if you are going to make saw dust with it. If you do, it is sure to get dirty and maybe even scratched.

Well it is done, here is the before and after.
Re: 1957 Greenie Restoration
Nice job! Every time I see a restored Greenie, I'm tempted to do my 520 up in those colors! Shopsmith, please make this color scheme an option on new Mark 7 machines!

Here are some close ups. This update included a complete tear down, soda blast all parts, prime and repaint, installed a 1 1/8 HP motor, poly v belt drive and 2 bearing quill, plus polished all bare aluminum oarts, cause they look nicer polished. I also soaked the bench tubes and way tubes in rust stripper and polished the Way tubes and had the Bench Tubes Powder Coated.I am very happy with the way it turned out.
Some close ups.

Looks great--what was your process / equipment for your aluminum polishing?
