Well I sent an email to the person from SS asking to send me a replacement headstock since it will mostly likely be several weeks at the sooonest before I can do any turning. Will have to figure out a plan B to finish presents. I will let you know what SS says. I appreciate being part of the SS community. I learn a lot from the rst of you.

Do keep in mind that shopsmith may or may not have a powerpro head stock sitting there that they could ship out.

After ordering I waited 2 months for my first one and 3 months for my second one. I don't know what the lead time is now.

I do think it would be a good idea to have a couple of spares sitting at the factory that could be shipped out if needed but I don't know if they do. Maybe they will start thinking how this looks to prospective buyers who read these events here and think twice about laying out the cash given then results posted thus far.

The box to ship my headstock showed up late Monday night. Tuesday night I boxed it up. The good thing is the shipping box is really sturdy and all the packing material and instructions on how to pack it are first rate. I took it to my local FedEX Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday morning I talked to a woman on who answered the phone at the number on my email from SS and I talked to her about having the company send out a head stock with a powerpro motor and she said the company was having production problems but she would see what she could and call me back late afternoon. I did not get a call back by that evening so I called Thursday and left a message yesterday and I called back again this morning and got voice mail again and left another message. I have not been contacted. I sent email this afternoon outlining the above and see if I get a response.

Also I noticed that FEDEx tracking says that my headstock was delivered to them this morning.

I am trying not to be negative but have to admit my patience is wearing thin.

My john Deere 1025R has been in the shop for warranty work since Nove 8th. I can hardy wait to see when Ford gets a warranty part in for a recall on my new truck to see how long that will take to get fixed.....

At least its Friday

Except for being "a long time in coming", it will end well. You can count on Shopsmith for that.

This is strange sounding to me. I shipped back my PowerPro a couple of times and did not have this experience. In both cases, the carton came from Shopsmith with return shipping data. Both return boxes were picked up from my home be Fed Ex. There was no need to carry a loaded return box to a Fed Ex location. Both times they were seamless smooth operations. Yes, SS did improve their shipping carton since the first time.
