I want to personally thank you for all the help you've given me since I've joined the forum. Your rounded expertise has been a major help to me and others here too.

2) Mere numbers(count) mean little.
3) There is no way I claim any 'advantage' re Dusty!

Hey JPG, your response is appreciated. You and Dusty have been very helpful to me over the last 5 years. That said, I have to admit that I enjoy the " tom foolery". It has been a big part of why I like to come back here. I think I've learned that folks who will laugh at stuff, especially themselves, will seldom give you bad advice. And if they do, the will usually let you know that is a possibility. You guys are great teachers!

This is far afield from wood working, but it is in my shop. I installed a propane heater in the shop. New unit, new 100# bottle. ( not what I wanted, but best I could afford). I took the new bottle to the local place to be filled. Brought it home and the heater will not light. Apparently the new tank needs to be "purged". Never heard of this, but it is true, and they did not do this.( I didn't tell him it was new either) What apparently is happening is that air is trapped in the tank and no propane comes out. I tried the approved method for purging the lines, and after 20 minutes I decided something else must be happening. The " air" in the tank is coming out in the heater, but there is not enough propane to light. Local guys are gone hunting today. Does anyone have experience with this? How does one deal with this? Is just venting the tank a fix? I get no propane vapor at all when I did a short venting. ( all this is outside and away from the shop.

I would vent until I smell propane. When they filled it, they should have filled until the propane was coming out the vent.

I was hoping that might be the case. It seems to be clearly venting just air, no vapor at all. I think I probably set the guy up for failure when I failed to tell him it was new and I asked him not to fill it clear up. I had to move it by my self and lift it about a foot off the ground.
