I also seem to remember a 'later' one, but have apparently 'misplaced' it. I agree the 'new' online (interactive/links) is easier! It seems to be gradually replacing the 'older' system.(it links to new pages as well as the 'old' ones that have not been 'updated'.

Thanks for the nudge to re-examine it!

Yup, I hardly ever discard something I might want oneday.

I still can't determine when the non-Father's Day issue was released.

I don't trust my memory much anymore but I seem to recall that I picked this one up at the last Shopsmith Traveling Academy I attended here in Tucson in early 2009.

I might be off one year, however. I searched the forum for an indication and found this. Reading the entire thread indicates to me that this might have been the last TA in Tucson and that is where I got the 2008 catalog. I remember that because Rick had very few of them and was hesitant to release them to us. Group pressure won out. (Shhh, I have two copies).

I like to have boththe paper and the online version. I may have to test out the printer at work and make a copy to put in a binder:p

well, it was dang hard. soooooooo easy to mess up when it is getting that smooth. and of course, i had a lot of patience but not enough to get it perfect.

it will be scratched up the first time i use the table saw, but ohwell. it felt good!!!

now i have to quit playing and move on to more important steps in the restoration!!!!

You can't use it now... It needs to be put up on a pedistal from all the work. It wouldn't be right to defile it. Find another one cheap and us it. Truthfully it is awesome... looks better than it did new I bet.

here is the when i got it.

and now

I know some of you guys might be disappointed that i didn't go all the way. but i did my best on all the moving parts. purrs like a kittin.
there is the tiniest bit of rust inside of the legs (much to my surprise), so they will be fine.

and when i was getting the paint, the black, rubberized undercoating just called out my name. now that its done, i like it.

If you intend to use it in raised drill press mode, get a lock screw to keep it from flopping back down. The screw has a tapered end that wedges in the side of the oversized dimple in the end casting.

The dimple can also be seen. It is the 'silver spot'.

Is it by any chance resting on the casting in this pix?

ahhhhhhhh, thanks. i will do that promptly.
anyone happen to know the thread size for the lock screw?

edit: i read it too fast. you didnt say casters.... lol
no, it is not sitting on the casting. the big black spot looks like a hole in the low resolution, but it is the end of a rod.
