I don't know if you have the same switch as the my Mk V but I had a problem with the switch and was able to take it apart (the front unclips from the body of the switch) clean up the terminals amd reassemble. The switch now works perfectly

I am not going to try with a new switch but I believe the switches from Shopsmith cannot be taken apart and reassembled.
Some of the original Shopsmith Mark V switches can be disassembled and cleaned if you are careful not to break one or more of the switch tabs that holds the switch together. I find replacing the switch with a 1 1/2 HP rated switch always fixes the problem.
