Glad the bandsaw worked well for you! I had thought about using the jointer too, but those pieces are much too short for that. I still think I would have built a tapering jig for no other reason than that is more shop time with something else to build. And isn't "something else to build" half the reason for most jigs anyway?

Thanks Dave. Really didn't do anything special with the staining process. Applied 2 coats of the pre-stain conditioner for oil based stain 15 minutes apart, then brushed on a liberal coat of oil based golden pecan MinWax stain, let it dry for about 15 minutes, and wiped it off with an old T-shirt.

The raw stock did have the greenish hue to it but that's gone now. I'll have to see if I took a picture before I stained them. My recollection was after the cutting and sanding, they didn't green hue. Not sure though.

Here's my next project, a street number sign. Woodworking and electrical make a nice combination.

The plan was a free download plan from woodmagazine.com. Plan includes all the number / lettering templates. I guess I can post it since it was free?? It calls for 24 inches of 1-1/16" x 6" cedar decking. Wish me luck finding that probably!! The 'WELCOME' lettering is cut on the scroll saw with the table at ~2.5°. This allows the lettering to be recessed since the kerf of the blade removes the material on an angle. With the material gone, the letters will drop down underflush.

I'm going to miter the corners instead of using a butt joint. That will eliminate seeing the end grain when viewed from the side.

Haven't made any progress making the brass vertical ruler for the set-up gage. Running into technical issues trying to get the press-n-peel material to stick to the brass 100%. I may have to go with a photo etch process vs. a chemical etch. Still researching. Can't figure out why I'm having the adhesion issues either. When I did my brass ER nameplate, it the stuff worked great.

If you do the same scroll saw technique on very tiny pieces of fine veneer ten or so layers at a time to assemble intricate scenes. you'll be doing marquetry. It's exactly that process... In fact I suppose you could call what you are doing simple marquetry. Marquetry and inlaying are very addictive...beware.

Wow. That's a remarkably similar version to the 'free' one they had. Same numbers even. What a coincidence. Guess I won't post it. I should have posted to the forum when they offered it as a free downloadable plan. Oh well.

No wonder I could not 'find' it. I was looking in the 'free' section!!! Oh well all I wanted was the number templates for a different project.

GREAT! Just what I need for MY address. However the project I had in mind(calender) needs the other 8 also. And scalable down to 1".
