It would not be much but if my dado was .5002" deep I would have some interference between a miter bar and and the aluminum extrusion (the notch).

Going strictly my the sketches that I generated, the interference would be .0172"[/quote]

0.500 + 0.0020 = 0.5020

I received my "new" table today. The first thing I noticed was no envelope on the package for the shipping document and return label for the other table.

Inspecting the table I noticed that the back end of the t-slot extrusion was above the table. Ok, I grabbed my phillips screwdriver to snug down the 5 screws because they were all loose. Extrusion still above the table a hair.

I installed the bar for the fence and visually saw that it would work. I tried to run my miter gauge through the t-slot and it wouldn't even start to go in. I removed the extrusion to inspect it and noticed that the slot bottom wasn't milled. Just straight, black casting.

With the extrusion removed it slides along the miter gauge bar easily. I re-inserted the extrusion and the screws. It took some time but I had to find the "sweet spot" for the screws, which is too loose for me. The miter gauge slides through but the extrusion is still above the table in the rear.

The extrusion is about table level in the front, low in the middle and above table in the back.

Is anyone else's table slot not milled?

I'm feeling really irritated with this. Maybe prices are increasing to put more money into QC....hopefully.

Are you reporting that your miter bar will not slide into the aluminum extruded? miter track?

I don't believe that either of mine are milled. I have always assumed that that was part of the reason for the aluminum miter track insert.

Can you not secure the miter track in the groove by simply tightening the five screws?

Is the clearance issue eliminated if you shim the new table as you did the original one?

This might be of interest to some of you. The t-slot channels on the old OPR and several of there older pieces of equipment, I think even the joint-matic are special shopsmith patented parts. The are adjustable to take out slop in the miter gauge slot by use of the screws in the bottom. Yes they were designed to do that and were unique enough to get a patent. Oh yea it can be too tight as well so if you are having problems moving the miter gauge you might just want to adjust it.

I don't have the aluminum table on my bandsaw so I can say they are milled but the adjustment for fit to the bar might well be the same patented system so you have found a feature not a problem.

I am saying that the table slot is not milled flat. Casting irregularities in the bottom of the slot. When I snug down the 5 screws for the t-slot extrusion it is warping the extrusion so that my miter gauge bar won't go in, at all. If I back the screws out to "loose" the miter gauge bar goes in.

Is the aluminum extrusion that has the notch milled into it shown attached to the table on the left in your latest photo image? If it is, it is installed on the wrong end of the table.

My aluminum extrusions both have two shallow dadoes running the length of the extrusion on the underside of the extrusion. Can you tell me if this is a tell tale characteristic of the adjustable extrusion?

No, the fence bar is on the right side/rear/backside of the table.

I'm confused. Did this problem not begin as a direct result of the aluminum extrusion with the clearance notch mounted on the old table and preventing the miter bar from sliding through the notch.

New aluminum extrusion with a shim on the old table worked but now with a new table and the aluminum extrusion with the notch ........

Is the groove in the new table shallower than the one in the old table?
