I have the master catalog in front of me. On page 3 they have sections on Head types, Choosing and using the right screw, production screws actual sizes... head bore size, shank hole/pilot hole for both soft and hard wood, Screw dimensions.... Then pages 4-7 contain even more technical details.

I also like to save the reference pages. Idownloaded part of those pages from the McFeely web site. I am very pleased with the full catalog I requested with my order. Great service. fjimp

Another problem is trying to find old slotted screws in the plain steel finish when working on a replica of an antique or just doing some repair wook on an old piece of furniture.
Here is a place that carries slotted screws in plain steel, brass and nickel. Prices are better than Rockler too. They also have a product that will age or blacken zinc plated screws, it is called brass ager.
