By 'end piece' are you referring to the 'tie bar'?

Lets see if I understand what you have done.

Reversed the end base castings so the hinge is 'to the left'.(headstock still on the way tubes but with the idler shaft end facing the now hinge end).

Removed the tie bar from the now right end, reversed the carriage and replaced the tie bar.

If so the same as reversing both the headstock and carriage on the way tubes.

i.e. remove tie bar then headstock then carriage.

.....replace the headstock on the way tubes idler shaft end first.

.....replace the carriage oriented as it was when removed.

..... replace tie bar.

When done and raised to vertical, the headstock is under the table and the bottom* of the table faces the headstock(*rotated to 'drill press' position).

The table 'controls' are now on the 'back side' of the headstock and need to be reversed.

If not please 'align' my thinking.

Yes. I believe that is correct. When I want to use as a routing table, I just slide off the tie bar and reverse the carriage. Only, I have an accessory table which got swapped to the other side.

Latest project, ready to be turned and have bearing edges cut since this will be another stave snare drum. Wood is Mahogany and quilted maple as the dividers. Math and angles were not easy. Lol

It is a relatively easy project if you decided to make one with his help. A deeper version might be heavy for marching. I can't say I recommend turning a 14" shell without a speed reducer. Anyway, if you want detailed info on that project, then just shoot me a PM.

The title of this thread is a question.

Has the question been answered. Are we then just waiting for a drum rol?

Like many threads this one has 'branched out'. I think the original question was answered waaaay back. Only recently has the answer been fully understood by the OP. All that intervened was necessary to accomplish that.

I agree a drum to drool over.

This topic can now come to a close. Just a few posts ago, I provided an update for the conversion which is simpler and works well.
