It's a little confusing as I am not sure which figure setscrew AA is located in the last post. On Post 44 on page 5 of this thread, I see a good figure of the G3 chuck, but there are only 15 items, none identified as AA. I see reference made to using the red fiber wad. I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing anymore. IIUC?

I used the fiber wad under the set screw that secures the adapter to the G3 chuck.
The other set screws secures the G3 to the drive shaft. This is the set screw that is now set at an angle.

Think AAMCO - Almost Always Must Come Out - AA = Almost Always
The 'second' screw was the fibered tip/insert that had a 'fibre' issue.
The 'main' screw was the quill attachment screw with an 'angle' issue.
Gleaned from multiple threads herein.
There were also thread issues and setscrew sizes as well as metric thread confusion.

The screw that gets loose for me is the grub screw that hold the chuck to the SS shaft. I am just lucky it has not flown off with a bowl on it. I have torqued it down as tight as that little allen wrench will do without being twisted. It still comes loose every time. I have not heard back from TeknaTool yet, and I am a bit worried, but today was Friday before the Labor Day 3 day weekend, so maybe they cut out or something. Tuesday I'll call them during the day if I don't get email reply. I think a new SS suitable adapter would resolve the issue.
"ISNS - INSERT S - 5/8" Plain Bore - Designed Specifically for Shopsmith Pro V, Power Pro Machines. " I know I got mine with the type "F" adapter - "IFNS - INSERT F - 5/8" Plain Bore RH". I don't know if runout is an issue until I get the right adapter to test the whole setup. I could test the quill shaft, and the shaft with adapter (wrong one), and then add the chuck, but what's the point if it's the wrong adapter?

Aside from the set screw issue, it is 'a' correct adapter so checking runout with it 'may' be productive.mgdesigns wrote:The screw that gets loose for me is the grub screw that hold the chuck to the SS shaft. I did receive emails today from Teknatool, and they have offered to let me send my adapter (IFNS) in for replacement with the new and improved ISNS. They will send the new one back after they receive the old one. Now that's good service, considering I did not buy direct from them but from an ebay retailer. And that was a 19 months ago. I have only used the chuck about 10 times though because of the wobbling. After I get the new adapter, I will check the T.I.R. runout. Again, thanks for the info from this fine forum, and great service from Teknatool. It's nice to deal with reputable companies.

It is possible to carry a good thing too far. This is how and why some good suppliers "are no more".
Teknatool is attempting to make right a shipping error that they made. They are not attempting to rid the wood working world of IFNS adapters.
I seriously doubt that wobble will be effected by exchanging the adapter.

Shopsmith G3 Adapter
Hope I got the right thread.
Read a lot about the "Shopsmith" Nova G3 and the SS adapter. I also had the wrong "F" adapter with my SS-bought G3 set/kit.
Had a little trouble with their web site.
Finally used E-Mail. Got an almost immediate response:
asked to send a copy of the order, and I attached the email Order Verification from SS.
Before I even got the Email saying the thing was on its way it arrived. (2nd day)
No fees or charges (for which I actually feel a little guilty).
Conclusion: I'll put Teknatool right up there at Numero Uno for Service right next to Shopsmith.
Btw, what a beautiful piece of equipment is the G3 et al!
