We said much of the same things.(after all the goal is the same)

However I posted a method that did not require any measuring nor calculating.

One cut - two comparisons - no other 'tools'.

I also emphasized(repeated) the requirement of a straight edge and a flat face.

The method does not require an accurate 90° edge/face angle though it helps with the comparing.

Not as quick, but less memory dependent.
When I want to use special characters, I open a new document in my word processor, (LibraOffice Writer), click Insert - Special Character, pick the one(s) I want from the pop up window, and then I copy them to the clipboard and paste into the post here, or wherever I need them.

Effective and indeed requires no memory from the 'operator' nor an additional program(application), but is typical of 'windows' methods that are IMHO excessively dependent upon the computer itself with windows/popups etc. and much mousing and clicking around.

The direct keyboard approach(either one) involves no software other than the keyboard bios which is active for ALL 'normal' input from the keyboard.

Well Red, we already knew that you were just a little bit "square"!

Now if all this fancy software would just stop playing around with character spacing!

I promised John Burger that I would restore the MAGNA Preliminary Manual as my next project. They weren't even calling it the 10E yet.

I felt it was an important project to restore just because this was the first document to accompany the original MAGNA machines.

It was so early in fact, there was a parts diagram, but no parts listing with the names of the parts, with a promise to send owners a new printed manual when one was printed.

It will be a while before I finish it.

Like the other manuals I restored, I added things to it, including a parts listing from a later series 10E in which some of the part numbers in the original drawing had been 'updated' by production changes.

Here's a taste of the sort of addendum's I am adding to the material in the original manual.
