I always get to feeling a bit sheepish looking at a well (or even semi) organized smaller shop. I'm lucky enough to have a large shop space (24' X 40') with a tiny bit of overflow room I could sneak an item or two into outside of the shop. Some how I am having a horrible time getting this shop together...
I learned when I had our store in different locations over the years that it becomes extra hard to be efficient when you have plenty of room.
A large shop space really attracts sloppiness... and I am really good at sloppiness.

I will say 400 square feet but one must realize that to access the space the MGB and 3 motorcycles need to be moved. When it is in the teens or colder outside my shop shrinks to 150 square feet.

I just stopped by the new house we are buying (escrow alledgedly closes in 11 days) and measured the workshop...585 square feet! The current owner has it so crammed with crap that it's hard to even get in there...he best start packing soon as I could care less about moving into the house, I'm heading straight for the workshop (that's going to thrill my wife

)

Zanthos37, it may not be the biggest, but you gotta win the best shop award in at least two categories. 1) Nicest floor. 2) Cutest helper!

Zanthos37 I would be afraid to get that floor scratched up and dusty.

The floor is Shaw laminate in hickory. got it on sale for $.99/sq.ft. The shop has been up for 3 month, alot of use from it, moving the SS around and it hasn't shown any scratches yet. Very happy with it. Yes Daddy's little helper out there with me alot.

She starting to get used to the noise of the tools.

Do be mindful of her when it is making noise.

I'm at least 8 years away from a helper like yours. But I'm already saving up tools for him/her.
My shop has finally started to shape up, maybe I'll post some pics tomorrow.
