Hi,

The weather was nice enough to turn pens 2 and 3 today. This also gave me the opportunity to test the little gulp dust collector. This is really an oil funnel from walmart but it looked like what I was looking for.

So todays test was to use it as is by attaching a 1-1/4 vac hose to it and seeing what would happen. It did OK on some of the dust but not so well on the larger chips. This was not unexpected as the funnel has only a 3/4" hole.

Next I need to trim the funnel and somehow hook up a larger hose. The plastic is that stuff that is really slick and hard to glue to. I was thinking some plastic paint then go from there or maybe a mechanical solution???

That is an interesting chuck setup. What is the item in the jaws of the chuck? Is it a Morse taper adaptor of some sort?
Just curious.

After several really nice days here in IL I was finally able to get some shop time again. Those other commitments actually will be done tomorrow but I did have a little while to up date my little gulp.

Happened to have picked up a hose coupler a few days ago at the hardware store. They must have seen me coming as I can hardly believe that piece of plastic should have cost me $5 but that is off subject.

Used this set-up to make a 2-1/2" hole. I'm guess that no one else is going to duplicate much of this so I will not take the time to post the "details".

While I remembered the coupler I did not remember to get the glue or a couple of other things I wanted... no list no memory, and it was an unexpected stop. So this is a temporary glue job so I can test it out soon, I think the glue will just peal off when the time comes.
