I was at a Lowes yesterday and saw the Shopsmith paper on the rack. What I did notice was that it was about twice the price of other sanding disks on display.

The packaging says something about 4x performance, but doesn't really explain why that is or why you might be better off buying it instead of the less expensive variety. Then again, government requirements that everything on the label must be in multiple languages doesn't allow much room for conveying useful information.

I'm wondering if anyone on the forum has tried the Shopsmith disks? I've got plenty of 5" Mirka disks, so I doubt I'll be picking any up soon.

That is a great looking site and I wish the main site looked more like that. It has a more modern and updated feel to it. The main site still looks and feels like all the printed materials from the 80s.

The interactive demo is pretty slick.

I probably agree but I have come to know the site pretty well and if any major changes are made, I'll be lost again.

Art, I use the Shopsmith new abrasives daily. the claim of lasting four times longer is true. Well worth the price. I even have their belt on my belt sander. Lasts longer needs cleaning far less frequently. Jim

And does anyone know how the Lowe's/SS abrasives compare to the new green ceramic abrasives?

How do they differ other than size and color?

Thanks, Dusty. Copied the catalogue in PDF to the hard drive. Don't have to get on line to drool anymore. :D
