Finally got everything set up for retirement except for finishing up my project to air condition the garage/workshop. Got the garage doors insulated last night, next will be to blow in insulation above the garage then install a ductless split air conditioner.

Hey, that's a lot like my setups... cool! Only problem is I'm still 20 years away from retirement . I did get in some quality time this week for Spring Break, though.

I didn't wait for retirement. I've been working my Shopsmith hard for the last 25 years.

I spent years planning and preparing for my full retirement years. Now that I'm here I struggle for time to do stuff...
I do have a few hobbies I am trying to pursue.
Horses and horse boarding (the boarding makes a little $$$, mine do not).
Woodworking including the small sawmill I hope to use this afternoon if it doesn't rain.
My antique tractor collection (lots of work waiting).
Adjusting my old farm shop to my current lifestyle.
My western boot rebuilding shop (might even make a few $$$).
Gardening and landscaping the farm.
My writing projects.
I have a zillion hours in doing genealogy.
I have pretty much quit tinkering with computers except for using them.
We still go for Sunday drives (any day of the week) at the drop of a hat.
We also like to photograph old barns on those drives.
Trying every reasonably priced restaurant in a 50 mile radius.
And in my spare time I ...

So, farmer, instead of laying around doing very little why don't you get out and see the world in an RV

Well, actually we are planning a trip this late summer / early fall... Not a biggie but we want to visit our youngest daughter who moved from TN to south western MT. We are talking about making a loop through there then down through Colorado and maybe NM and Texas.
I would also like to make a quick trip to visit my sister and her family in Pensacola this year.

I was following a conversation on an RV list where some guy was talking about getting 6 to 8 MPG Highway on his RV.
I know that I don't want to pull our heavy old 24' trailer on that longer trip. We have an old slide in pickup camper that weighs as much as a small house, has no real space and has a whole lot more wind drag than I like.
It is getting harder and harder to find a low cost motel that is not a rat-hole and motel prices are getting pretty $$$ too.
We may replace one of my old trucks with something from this century and buy a "very" light small travel trailer. I have been looking at Goldwings too but I don't think I want to go that far on one.

Farmer, I have an Airstream RV based on a Sprinter Van. It has a shower, stove, microwave, sink, ice box, tv, two full size beds has 8 feet of headroom, is 22 feet long, can tow 5,000 pounds, and ,drum roll please, gets 25 MPG on the highway, averages 21 overall. It's based on a 5 cyl Turbochanged diesel engine. We don't go anywhere without it, even to the grandkids ball games because it also has a bathroom
