Ok I will be reassembling my Mark V in the next few days. I ordered new belts and have cleaned it all up. What is recommended for lube on the sheaves, shafts, quill, basically anything that moves. Also what is the best wax for the tubes to get the best slide on them? Wish me luck...hope I don't have any parts left over:o .

Use a light weight oil for the lube and original Johnson paste wax for the tubes.

Well I finished my rebuild!!! I actually got my Mark V all back together with no left over parts!!!! Speed controll works like a champ which is why I took her apart to begin with the sheaves were stuck. I'm excited to turn some stuff on the lathe!!!!!!

After seeing all the wonerful full referbs I may take her apart for a new paint job one of these days!!

I know I know. Gotta get on the pics but spent the evening in the shop with my 9 year old making his pinewood derby car for Cub Scoiuts. His first chance to use my Craftsman tube bed lathe:o . He did well. I will get some pics of my SS soon because I want to see if ya'll can tell me which setup I have exactly.

Yep he has been asking me to try the lathe for a while. I didn't get a pic of him making the car, but I will post a pic of the him and the car soon. He did a great job on it and did most of the work himself (I did a little band sawing for him)
